Simply stated, these parasites are masters of mind control. mind parasites. book Whether as tiny as a virus or as big as a six-foot-long tapeworm, they have found all kinds of devious methods to manipulate the behavior of their hosts, and that includes, many researchers now strongly suspect, humans."/5().

"Mind Parasites" has a fanciful sound to it like the confabulation of an overwrought, paranoid imagination. The term was coined by scholar of the occult Colin Wilson in his science fiction novel of ideas entitled The Mind Parasites written in And the novel is alternately fascinating and silly, spinning out of control with overcaffinated.

In The Mind Parasites he does this in an entirely new way; at least I can’t think of another book that brings together as disparate influences as Lovecraft, Husserl’s phenomenology, the history of consciousness and the Romantic movement under the same page-turning narrative roof.4/5(32).

The Mind Parasites explores the possibility that such atrocities are caused by “the existence of mind vampires.” Of course, humans are deeply flawed, and the mind parasites may seem like an excuse for appalling and mind-boggling behavior, but Wilson’s examination of those symptoms as rooted in something deep, dark, and unnatural residing within a person’s psyche is creepily.

The Mind Parasites is a disturbingly creepy story of monsters that live within the depths of human consciousness, feeding off our energy and keeping us depressed, dumbed-down, anxious and living below our potential. Sounds like a common, everyday disease. But noted author Colin Wilson’s horror story is fiction, and you have to keep reminding yourself of that little fact as you read this.

For over years, mind parasites have been lurking in the deepest layers of human consciousness, feeding on human life force and steadily gaining a foothold on the planet. Now they threaten humanity's can be fought with one weapon only: the mind, pushed to - and beyond - its limits/5(4).

"Mind Parasites" is a strange and often disappointing science-fiction novel, especially considering author Colin Wilson's intellectual pedigree. Wilson is best-remembered for writing such challenging and insightful existentialist non-fiction as "The Outsider" and for a series of provocative non-fiction histories of true crime and the occult/5(52).

Weissman continues, “their [the mind parasites’] role is to take over a man’s mind, and to cause him to become an enemy of life and of the human race.” Weissman wrote, “Now I suspect that these mind vampires specialize in finding races who have almost reached this point of evolution, who are on the brink of achieving a new power, and.
